ሀገር አዲስ ሃሳብ አፍላቂ ሲኖራት እንዲህ በአዲስ አበባ በ30 ዓመታት ያልተሰራው በሦስት ዓመታት ይሰራል።ይህንን አዲስ ፊልም ተመልክተው ይፍረዱ።

በኢትዮጵያ ዓባይ ግድብ ላይ የግብፅ እና የኃያላኑ የማይሳካላቸው ዋናው ምስጢራዊ ዕቅድ

ኢትዮጵያ በዓባይ ወንዝ ላይ ግድቧን መስራት ከጀመረች አስር ዓመታት የሆነው ቢሆንም ግብፅም ሆነች ኃያላኑን ከፍተኛ መወራጨት ያሳዩት ባለፉት ሦስት ዓመታት ውስጥ ነው።ለእዚህ ደግሞ ዋናው ምክንያት ግድቡ በነበረበት አያያዝ በፕሮጀክት አፈፃፀሙ ለዓመታትም የማያልቅ መሆኑን ባላቸው መረጃ ባዕዳኑ ያውቁት ስለነበረ ነው።የግንባታው ኮንትራት የወሰደው እና በከፍተኛ የሙስና እንዲሁም የአቅም ማነስ ሲንገዳገድ የነበረው የብረታ ብረት እና ኢንጅነሪንግ ኮርፖሬሽን (ሜቴክ) በምን ያህል ደረጃ ግድቡን የመፈፀም አቅም የሌለው ነገር ግን የሕዝብ ገንዘብ አለአግባብ እየዘረፈ እንደነበር በዝርዝር ባእዳኑ ያውቁ ነበር።ሜቴክ እስከ 37 ቢልዮን ዶላር የሚያወጣ የውጭ ግዢ ሲፈፅም ካለጨረታ በዘመድ አዝማድ የድለላ ሥራ እንደነበር ከሁለት ዓመት በፊት የአቃቢ ሕግ ሪፖርት ያስረዳል።ከእዚህ ባለፈ በዓባይ ግድብ ግንባታ ላይ ያልሰራውን የፕሮጀክት ሥራ ክፍያ ቀድሞ በመውሰድ የሚወነጀለው ይሄው ድርጅት ኢትዮጵያን ቀብሮ እንደሚሄድ ባዕዳኑ ጠንቅቀው ያውቁ ስለነበር በግድቡ ላይ የጠነከረ ስሞታ ማሰማት አላስፈለጋቸውም። 

ባለፉት ሦስት ዓመታት ግን በፕሮጀክቱ ላይ የተወሰደው መሰረታዊ የለውጥ ማስተካከያ ፕሮጀክቱ በሁለት እግሩ መቆም መቻሉ እና እውን እየሆነ መምጣቱን ሲታወቅ ነው ግብፅም ሆነች ኃያላኑ መንግሥታት ድምፃቸው መሰማት የጀመረው እና በኢትዮጵያ ላይ በቀጥታ ተፅኖ ለመፍጠር እየሞከሩ ያሉት።ላለፉት አንድ ዓመታት ከግድቡ ጋር በተያያዘ ብዙ ሰበቦች ሲደረድሩ የነበሩት የውጭ ኃይሎች አሁን በቀጥታ ስለ ግድቡ ከማውራት ይልቅ በኢትዮጵያ የውስጥ ጉዳይ ላይ የሚገቡበት ሰበብ ፍለጋ ለማግኘት ሲባዝኑ ይታያሉ።ስለሆነም የኢትዮጵያን የውስጥ ጉዳይ እስከ የተባበሩት መንግሥታት የፀጥታው ምክር ቤት ድረስ ለማድረስ ላይ ታች ሲሉ የከረሙበትም ሆነ አሁን ደግሞ ወደ ቡድን 7 እና በሰሜን የጦር ቃልኪዳን ሀገሮች ስብሰባ ምክክር ላይ ሳይቀር የኢትዮጵያን የውስጥ ጉዳይ መነጋገርያ ያደረጉበት ዋናውን ሚስጥር ማወቁ ጠቃሚ ነው።ይህንን ምስጢር ለማወቅ ግን ግብፅ እና ኃያላኑ ምን እንዲሆን ነው የሚፈልጉት? በጋራ ጥቅም በተለይ የዓባይን ግድብ በተመለከተ የምያስማማቸው ነጥብ ምን ሊሆን ይችላል? ወደ እዚህ ነጥብ ለመምጣት ስልታዊ መንገድ አድርገው ያሰቡት መንገድ ምንድነው ብሎ መጠየቅ ያስፈላግል።

በአባይ ግድብ አንፃር ግብፅም ሆነች ሱዳን የመጀመርያ ዕቅዳቸው የነበረው ኢትዮጵያን በውስጥ የማተራመስ አጀንዳ ከሞላ ጎደል እንዳልሰራ እና ኢትዮጵያን ለመበተን አጀንዳ የተሰጣቸው ኃይሎች አንድ በአንድ እንደተመቱ የቀረው አስተሳሰባቸውም ከምርጫው በኃላ በርዕዮተ ዓለም ደረጃም እንደሚመታ ግልጥ ሆኖላቸዋል።ስለሆነም አሁን ሃያላኑንም ሆነ ግብፅ እና ሱዳንን በጋራ በአባይ ግድብ ላይ እንዲሆን የሚፈልጉት ምንድነው? ግብፅም ሆነች ሱዳን በቀጥታ ኢትዮጵያን መውረር እንደማይችሉ ያውቁታል።ግብፅም ግድቡ ላይ አንዳች አደጋ ልፍጠር ብትል እስከ 6ሺህ ኪሎሜትር የሚወነጨፍ ሚሳኤል የታጠቀቸው ኢትዮጵያ የአስዋንን ግድብ በደቂቃ እንደምታደባየው ግብፆች ያውቃሉ።አንድ ሺህ ኪሎሜትር ማለት ከአዲስ አበባ አስመራ ነው ከአዲስ አበባ ካይሮ 3ሺህ አምስት መቶ ኪሎሜትር ነው።ኢትዮጵያ በእዚህ በኩል አልፋ ሄዳለች።በሌላ በኩል የአባይ ግድብ ማለት ግብፅን መቆጣጠር ማለት ብቻ ሳይሆን መካከለኛው ምሥራቅን መቆጣጠር እንደሆነ ኃያላኑ መንግሥታት ገብቷቸዋል።መካከለኛው ምስራቅ የታሸገ ውሃም ሆነ የሩዝ፣የፍራፍሬ እና የስጋ ምርት ሳይቀር ከግብፅ የሚቀርብለት የአባይ ወንዝ ትሩፋት  ነው።

ስለሆነም ኃያላኑም ሆኑ ግብፅ የአባይ ግድብን በወታደራዊ ጣልቃ ገብነት በቀጥታ መቆጣጠርን እንደአንድ መፍትሄ ሊያስቡት አይችሉም ማለት አይቻልም።አሁን እየሄዱበት ያለው ሂደት የሚያሳየው ይህንኑ ነው።በመጀመርያ ግብፅ ጉዳዩን የዓለም አቀፍ ፀጥታ ችግር አድርጋ እንድታቀርብ ተነገራት ከአውሮፓ እስከ መካከለኛው ምስራቅ፣ከሩቅ ምስራቅ እስከ ደቡብ አፍሪካ የግብፁ ውጪ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ሮጡ።ሆኖም አልተሳካም።ግብፅ የአባይ ግድብ በኢትዮጵያ ቁጥጥር ስር ከሚሆን የፀጥታ ችግር ነው ተብሎ በሰሜን አትላንቲክ የጦር ቃል ኪዳን ሀገሮች (ናቶ) ወይንም በተባበሩት መንግሥታት ስር ቢሆን የተሻለ የፀጥታ ዋስትና እንደሚሆናት ታስባለች።ኃያላኑ ደግሞ ይህ ለእነርሱ ግብፅን መቆጣጠር ብቻ ሳይሆን መካከለኛው ምሥራቅን መቆጣጠር እና ኢትዮጵያ እንዲሁም አፍሪካ እንዳይነሱ መድፈቂያ አንዱ መንገድ እንደሚሆን ያስባሉ።ጥያቄው ይህንን ግብ ለማሳካት ኃያላኑ ምን ሲያደርጉ ሰነበቱ? የሚለው ነው። 

ይህንን ግብ ለማሳካት ኃያላኑ በመጀመርያ ያደረጉት ሱዳንን ማማለል ነው።የባዕዳን ጦር ካለ ሱዳን መሸጋገርያነት ሊሆን እንደማይችል ያውቃሉ።ስለሆነም ሱዳንን ከአሸባሪነት መዝገብ ከመሰረዝ ጀምሮ እስከ ድጎማ ድረስ ባለፈው አንድ ዓመት ብቻ የተሰራ ሥራ ነው።ከአሜሪካ ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣናት እስከ የእስራኤል የደህንነት ኃላፊዎች በተደጋጋሚ ወደ ካርቱም በረራ ያደረጉትም ላለፈው አንድ ዓመት ብቻ ነው።የግብፅ እና ሱዳን ጦር የጦር ልምምድ ሁለት ጊዜ ያደረጉት ባለፈው አንድ ዓመት ውስጥ ብቻ ነው።የኢትዮጵያ የውስጥ ጉዳይ እና የአባይ ግድብ ጉዳይ ከሦስት ጊዜ በላይ በተባበሩት መንግሥታት የፀጥታው ምክር ቤት ውስጥ ውይይት እንዲደረግበት የተሞከረው ባለፉት ጥቂት ወራት ውስጥ ነው።በኢትዮጵያ የውስጥ ጉዳይ ላይ በመግባት አሜሪካ ግልፅ የሆነ የተፅኖ እጇን ለማሳረፍ በምክርቤት ደረጃ ውሳኔ ያሳለፈችው ባለፉት ጥቂት ቀናት ነው። የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት በትግራይ የሕግ ማስከበር ተግባር መውሰዱን እና እርሱን ተከትሎ በከፍተኛ የፕሮፓጋንዳ ሥራ የሚራገበው የሰብዓዊ መብት ጉዳይን እንደ አንድ መግቢያ ጉዳይ ወስዶ 'ወደፊት ርሃብ ትራባላችሁ' ዘመቻ በኃያላኑ ሚድያም ሆነ የሰብዓዊ መብት ድርጅቶች ከአሁኑ እየተራገበ ያለው ከቅርብ ሳምንታት ወዲህ ነው።ይህ ሁሉ ውክብያ እንደ መንገድ ጠራጊ እያመቻቸ ያለው ኢትዮጵያን ማተራመስ እና የፀጥታ ችግር አለ፣ሕግ ለማስከበር ዓለም አቀፍ ኃላፊነት አለብን በሚል ሰበብ ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ጦራቸውን ለማትመም ነው።ባጭሩ እነኝህ ሁሉ ግባቸው አንድ ነው።ዓለም አቀፍ ማኅበረሰቡን አዋክቦ ኢትዮጵያን በተባበሩት መንግሥታት ጭምር ለማስወገዝ እና በሰብዓዊ መብት ሰበብ የኢትዮጵያን ሕዝብ ሉዓላዊነት መግፈፍ እና የዓባይ ግድብን ለአካባቢው ፀጥታ ሲባል በሚል ግድቡን በ'ናቶ' ቁጥጥር ስር ማዋል ነው።የ'ናቶ' ያለፉት የቅርብ ታሪኮች ደግሞ ለእዚህ ምስክር ናቸው።በቀድሞዋ ዩጎዝላቪያ መፍረስ ሂደት ኃላፊነት አለብኝ ብሎ ድርጅቱ በቀድሞዋ ዩጎዝላቪያ ላይ ያዘነበው የቦንብ ውርጅብኝ ማስታወስ ነው።በሊብያ የውስጥ ጉዳይ ገብቶ በትርፖሊ ላይ የወረደው የአየር ኃይል ድብደባ ማሰብ ነው። 

ስለሆነም ኢትዮጵያውያን በኢትዮጵያ ላይ እየታሰበ ነገር ግን የማይሳካው የባዕዳን የሃሳብ ጥግ የት ድረስ እንደሚሄድ ከአሁኑ ማወቅ እና በአስፈላጊ ንቃት እና ትጋት ላይ መገኘት አስፈላጊ ነው።''ኢትዮጵያ የዓለሙ መፋረጃ'' ነች የሚባለው አባባል ቀላል አባባል አይደለም።ግፈኛ ኃያላን ብዙ ግፍ ሊውሉባት ሞክረዋል።ዛሬ ግን የሉም።ከማለፋቸው በፊት ግን ጥፋት አላደረሱባትም ማለት ግን አይደለም።ለጥፋቷ ሌላው እና ዋና ጠላቶቿ ደግሞ ከውስጧ ሆነው ለባእዳን አሳልፈው የሚሰጧት ናቸው።ጠላቶቿም የሚነሱት በእዚሁ የውስጥ ከሃዲዎች በተነሱባት ጊዜ ነው።ዛሬ ለኢትዮጵያ ከምንጊዜውም በላይ ጥብቅና የምንቆምበት፣ከሀዲዎችን ካለምንም ይሉኝታ የምንዋጋበት እና ኢትዮጵያ ወደፊት ቀጥላ እንድትነሳ የራሳችንን ድርሻ ጥለን ለወደፊቱ ትውልድ የምናሸጋግርበት ጊዜ ነው።ኢትዮጵያ ታሸንፋለች።በእዚህ ማንም ጥርጥር ሊገባው አይገባም።ከስነልቦና ጥቃት እራስንም ሆነ ህዝብን መጠበቅ እና የባዕዳን የድፍረት ሃሳብን ጥግ አውቆ መዘጋጀት ግን  ይጠበቃል።በኢትዮጵያ ላይ ከኃያላኑ እስከ የተባበሩት መንግሥታት፣ከ'ኔቶ' እስከ ቡድን 7 የሚያደርጉትን ጣልቃ ገብነት በየጊዜው ከሚሰጡን ከፋፋይ አጀንዳዎች እራሳችንን ጠብቀን ለኢትዮጵያ ዘብ መቆም ግዴታ ነው።

የማኅበራዊ ሚድያዎች በመላው ዓለም ሕዝብ ማኅበራዊ እና ፖለቲካዊ ጉዳዮች ላይ የፈጠሩት መልካም ከባቢያዊ ሁኔታ ቢኖርም፣በሌላ በኩል ያበላሹት ደግሞ እጅግ ብዙ ጉዳዮች አሉ።የህዝብ ለሕዝብ ግንኙነቶችን ለማበላሸት ተንኮለኞች ተጠቅመውበታል።በሀገሮች መሃል ግጭት እንዲባባስ ከማድረግ አልፎ በቀላሉ ሊፈቱ የሚችሉ ጉዳዮች እንዲወሳሰቡ ምክንያት ሆኗል።በሌላ በኩል ሀገሮች የውስጥ የፖለቲካ ጉዳያቸው ባልተፈለገ መንገድ እንዲሄድ ከማድረግ አልፎ የምርጫ ሂደቶች ወደ አልተፈለገ መንገድ እንዲሄዱ ማድረጉ ተነግሯል።ለምሳሌ በዩክሬን እና ሩስያ መሃል ያለው የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ ንትርክ፣በአዘርባጃን እና አርመንያ መካከል ለረጅም ጊዜ የቆየው አለመግባባት እንዲቀጣጠል የማኅበራዊ ሚድያው ንትርክ መንግሥታቱ ተረጋግተው እና በሰከነ መንገድ  ለመፈለግ ፋታ የሚሰጣቸው አልሆነም። በሌላ በኩል በአፍሪካም ሆነ በአሜሪካ ማኅበራዊ ሚድያው በቀጥታ ተፅዕኖ ሲፈጥር ታይቷል።

በኢትዮጵያ የማኅበራዊ ሚድያው መረጃ  ከመስጠት ባለፈ ህዝብን በዕውቀት ለማነፅ ያደረገው አስተዋፅኦ ምንድነው? ብለን ብንጠይቅ ራሱን የቻለ ምርምር ቢጠይቅም በደምሳሳው የሚታየው ግን እዚህ ግባ የሚባል ጥቅም እየሰጠ አይደለም።ከእዚህ ይልቅ ለፖለቲካ ሹክቻ እና አንዱን ጎሳ ከሌላው ለማጋጨት የማኅበራዊ ሚድያው ሚና ቀላል አይደለም።በእርግጥ መረሳት የሌለበት ጉዳይ የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ ላለፉት ሠላሳ ዓመታት ያህል በኢትዮጵያ ሰፍኖ የነበረውን ጎሳን መሰረት ያደርገው የህወሓት መር ኢህአዴግ ስርዓትን ለማጋለጥ የተጫወተው ሚና ቀላል እንዳልነበር መካድ አይቻልም።

በሌላ በኩል አሁን ያለው ዓለም አቀፍ መሰረት ያደርገው የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ ለምሳሌ እንደ ፌስቡክ እና ትውተር ያሉት ሚድያዎች  እንደ ኢትዮጵያ የራሷ ታሪክ፣ባሕል እና የሕዝብ ግንኙነት ላለው ሀገር የተደበላለቀ ውቅያኖስ ውስጥ የመዘፈቅ ዕጣ  ያተረፈ ከመሆኑም በላይ ወጣቶቻችን በማይኖሩበት አኗኗር ዘይቤ የተቀረፀው እና በማያውቁት የውጭው ዓለም ባሕል እና አስተሳሰብ የታሸው እሳቤ በራሱ ሌላ ውጥንቅጥ የሆነ ሁኔታ እየፈጠረ ለመሆኑ በቀላሉ ማስተዋል ይቻላል።ይህ ደግሞ ውሎ አድሮ ውጤቱ ትውልዱ የሚኖርበት ማኅበረሰብ ሌላ ነገር ግን የገባበት የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ በአዕምሮው ውስጥ እየፈጠረበት ያለው ደግሞ ሌላ መሆኑ በራሱ በአካል ሀገር ውስጥ በአስተሳሰብ ግን የባዕዳን ተገዢ የሆነ የሀገሩን ችግር የማይፈታ ትውልድ እያፈራን እንዳንሄድ ያሰጋል።ስለሆነም ኢትዮጵያ በማኅበራዊ ሚድያ አንፃር የገጠማት እና ወደፊት ሊገጥማት የሚችለውን ችግር  ያገናዘበ አፋጣኝ እርምጃ መውሰድ አለባት።

ከላይ የተጠቀሰው የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ የራሳቸው ባሕል እና ታሪክ ያላቸው ሀገሮች ገብተው እንደፈለጉ እንዋኝበት ቢሉ ፈፅሞ ሊሆን የሚችል አይደለም።ለእዚህ ደግሞ አስተማሪዋ ቻይና ነች። ቢቢሲ እንደ አውሮፓውያን አቆጣጠር በመስከረም 1፣2012 ዓም የቻይናን ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ አጠቃቀም አስመልክቶ ''Social media in China: What you need to know" በሚል ርዕስ ባወጣው ዘገባ ላይ ቻይና በዓለም ላይ ካሉ ሁሉ የማኅበራዊ ሚድያን ለገበያ ከሚጠቀሙት ውስጥ ቀዳሚ ሀገር መሆኗን ጠቅሶ ሆኖም ግን ፌስቡክ፣ትውተር እና ዩቱብ ዝግ መሆናቸውን ጠቅሶ ቻይናውያን እነኝህን ማኅበራዊ ሚድያዎች በዜና ምንጭነት እንደማይጠቀሙባቸው ያብራራል።በአንፃሩ ግን ቻይና የራሷ የሆነ ብሔራዊ  ማኅበራዊ ሚድያዎች አሏት።

እነኝህም ወይቦ፣ተንረን እና ዮኩ (Weibo, Renren & YouKu) የተሰኙ ማኅበራዊ ሚድያዎች ሥራ ላይ እንደሆኑ ያብራራል።

ወደ ኢትዮጵያም ስንመጣ መፍትሄው ይሄው ነው።ኢትዮጵያ የሕዝቧን ባሕል፣ስነልቦና፣ታሪክ እና የእርስ በርስ ግንኙነት የሚያጠነክር  የሀገሪቱን የኤሌክትሮኒክስ ገበያ ልውውጥ በሚያፋጥን መልኩ የራሷ የማኅበራዊ ሚድያ በኢትዮጵያ ቴሌ ተቆጣጣሪነት እና አጋዥነት መክፈት አለባት።በእዚህ ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ ታዋቂ አርቲስቶች፣ምሑራን እና ታዋቂ ሰዎች ሁሉ ወጣቱን የሚያስተምሩበት፣ክልል ከክልል የሚተዋወቁበት እና የሚቀራረቡበት፣ወጣቶች በተሻለ መልክ ተቀራርበው ጠቃሚ መረጃዎች የሚያገኙበት ይሆናል።ኢትዮጵያ የራሷ ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ በብሔራዊ ደረጃ ትውልዷን በሚያንፅ እና አሁን ሀገሪቱን እየጎዳ ያለው የጎሳ ፖለቲካን ለማርገብ የራሷን ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ መፍጠር እና ይህ ሀገርኛ ቃና ያለው ማድረጉ በእጅጉ ጠቀሜታ አለው።በእዚህ ትውልድ ይታነፃል፣ማኅበራዊ ሚድያውም ከማኅበራዊ እና ፖለቲካዊ አገናኝነት በዘለለ ለምጣኔ ሃብቱም የሚያደርገው አስተዋፅኦ ቀላል አይሆንም።ስለሆነም መንግስት ይህንን ጉዳይ በጥብቅ ሊያስብበት ይገባል።ኢትዮጵያ የራሷ ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ በሀገር አቀፍ ደረጃ ስታዘጋጅ ከውጭ የሚመጡትን እንደ ቻይና መዝጋት አይኖርባትም።በሀገር ውስጥ የተፈጠረው በራሱ ተመራጭ ሆኖ ህዝቡ እንዲወደው በማድረግ ብቻ ለውጥ ማምጣት ይቻላል።በሀገር ውስጥ የሚፈጠረው ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ ትስስር መረብ የውጭውን ቀድሞ ወይንም እኩል እንደሚሄድ ለማወቅ ሕዝብ በቀላሉ ባህላዊ መሰረቱን የተበቀለትን ማኅበራዊ ሚድያ እንደሚመርጥ መረዳት በራሱ በቂ ነው።

Subject: Protesting ill-informed and ill-intended US senate Resolution (S.Res 97) on Ethiopia and

Eritrea

We, the undersigned Ethiopian and Eritrean organizations in Norway in conjunction with similar initiatives in many other European countries and US states, are writing this letter to the US embassy and representation in Norway protesting the US senate resolution 97 on Ethiopia and Eritrea. We write to express our disappointment over the recent and drastic US policy shift towards the region of Horn of Africa. We warn the shift may endanger damaging more than a century old fraternity and friendship between our countries and peoples. We would also like to remind the shift pause enormous humanitarian and political impact to our countries with consequences for the US interest in the region and beyond. Furthermore, the US induced economic and political crisis in the Horn of Africa will eventually lead to major security threats and destabilization for the larger regions of Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Ethiopia and Eritrea are confronted with a multi-pronged covert and overt campaign by some of its partners exerting undue pressure on the government by levelling prejudiced and gratuitous accusations against it. We are deeply troubled by the continuous unfounded allegations and unwarranted pressure by members of the international community spearheaded by the EU and the USA. It is becoming questionable whether some have a genuine interest to understand the situation and assist our countries in dealing with the challenges. All of the public pronouncements of the State department and US representative at the UN, for example, indicates that it is working relentlessly to frustrate the reform agenda and undermine confidence in the coming elections in Ethiopia.

For several years, there has been and continues to be, relentless and unsubstantiated accusations against Eritrea, for acts of destabilisation and discord in the Horn of Africa. One of the clearly deceptive accusations, was the concocted allegation levelled against Eritrea, by TPLF backed by the US administration and western media. This put the country under unjust and illegal sanctions in 2009. Now it seems the same actors are aiming for history to repeat itself with similar accusations, which is now driving a dangerously misguided international response towards Eritrea, Ethiopia, and the broader Horn of Africa region.

We  would like to draw your attention to the following points:

1. The government of Ethiopia was forced into a law enforcement operation in Tigray region in response to a large-scale treasonous military attack by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on the largest military division based in that region. It is a measure that any sovereign nation would have taken against such a heinous domestic threat. The government is currently providing the majority of humanitarian assistance to support those affected by the conflict. It is also working constructively with international humanitarian aid agencies by providing unhindered access to all parts of the region. However, the USA has been consistently undermining the efforts of Ethiopian government by repeatedly demanding access irrespective of the improved situation on the ground. It is simply not the real problem of the aid agencies in the region. The civilians affected by this conflict would rather benefit from increased capacity and resources to improve the relief efforts.

2. Ethiopia is also taking all the necessary steps to investigate alleged human rights abuses and associated crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice. The recent announcement by the Federal Attorney General on the matter is part of this commitment. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights are also working on the process of joint investigation. Therefore, the government is fully committed to applying the full force of the law and serve justice.

3. Ethiopians are determined to build an inclusive and fair system of governance. One of the pillars of democracy is the holding of regular national elections. The country is working to organize the 6th national elections in such uncertain and difficult circumstances. The elections will no doubt fall short of democratic expectations in some respects but they will mark a decisive turn in the process of democratization. It is hoped that they will allow the people to freely exercise their democratic rights and contribute to building a strong, representative government with a more inclusive power structure. Thus, we believe that the decision by the EU not to observe the upcoming elections is unreasonable and completely misguided. It is in the EU's interest to support the reform efforts by the Government of Ethiopia including institutional capacity building for the sustainable process of democratization.

4. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is a non-consumptive hydroelectric dam being built on the river Nile inside Ethiopian territory with 100 percent local financing. GERD, once completed, provides much needed electric power to more than 60% of Ethiopians, who are currently off grid, to extricate themselves from poverty, accelerate the country’s sustainable development and mitigate environmental degradation. The electric power generated at GERD has tangible economic benefits for neighbouring nations as well, thereby fostering regional integration. Because the Nile is a transboundary water resource, Ethiopia strongly believes that its use shall be based on the principles of equitable and reasonable utilization and causing no significant harm to downstream riparian countries. As such Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan have already agreed that the GERD will be filled in stages that last for 4-7 years. And the second stage filling of the dam is scheduled for the upcoming rainy season and the downstream countries have already indicated that it will not impact their interests. Therefore, it is difficult to understand why the filling of the GERD suddenly becomes a source of coercion that is being deployed by some in the international community.

We believe that Ethiopia is momentarily distressed but the citizens remain confident that elections will be held in due time, the GERD will soon be filled and the law and order will be restored in Tigray and other parts of the country. Moreover, all those who have committed human rights abuses in the country will be held accountable and be brought to justice.

The Eritrean and Ethiopian communities in Norway are dismayed by the content and language of the US senate resolution and the announcement of Visa restrictions and other punitive measures by the Secretary of state . The crisis in Tigray Region of Ethiopia unfolded solely due to the dangerous acts of military insurrection that the now defunct TPLF group launched on 4th November 2020. The TPLF’s military plot was not confined to Ethiopia but also included Eritrea as a target, by launching several missiles to Asmara and other populated areas. TPLF’s reckless act had endangered the lives of innocent people both in Ethiopia and Eritrea. To gloss over these facts and point an accusing finger on Eritrea defies logic and is unwarranted by any standards. Furthermore, the timing of the announcement – made on the eve of Eritrea’s Independence Day – exceeds minimal bounds of civility and decency. And irrespective of their actual implications, the announced measures cannot promote legality as well as regional peace and security.

In conclusion, as citizens of two independent nations, there is no dearer term for Ethiopians and Eritreans than independence. Freedom from dictation by a foreign power, respect for their sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs remain our creed. While all international support based on mutual respect is highly valued, they need to be based on principles of fairness and the utmost regards for the sovereignty of nations.

Therefore, we request the USA senate and government to revise the ill-informed and ill-intended policy shift we are witnessing. Besides we call on all peace-loving nations and international organizations to:

1. Refrain from putting undue pressure on the government of Ethiopia, via irresponsible pronouncements and to desist from providing any dictates on and interference with its internal affairs

2. Act on changing facts on the ground rather than operating on arbitrary demands and on the basis of misinformation.

The Paradox

It is the paradox that to see Ethiopian National Army is fighting terrorism in Somalia to save the Horn from an immediate security danger and on the contrary, the current US Government is working to interrupt the democratic process of Ethiopia.Ethiopia is one of the most ancient lands in the whole world. It is the oldest independent country which has never been colonized by any foreign power. For the past century and even before the country was a proud land not only for the black world but for the South American and even far east people. In the history of fighting with colonialism, Ethiopian patriots' golden victory over colonialists at the battle of Adwa was a great bell ring to millions of people who had been under miserable operation by colonialists.For the liberation of many African countries including for the faildown of Apartheid in South Africa, Ethiopians continuous struggle against colonialism was special power.

For the last three decades, Ethiopia was ruled by ethnocentric ideology of Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF).TPLF came from the minority (6%) region of Tigray. Its ethnic policy had never been accepted by Ethiopians for the last three decades. There were a number of crimes committed by TPLF. Thousands were killed,torched and became refugees all over the world. The Gambella Massacre, Hawassa Massacre and the recent Maykadra genocides are among many crimes on humanity committed by TPLF. In all these three decades, the US Government was supporting TPLF both Financially  and militarily. However, the US has never been seen to impose TPLF for its crimes made on humanity. 

The Reform and Democratic process

On February 15,2018 Ethiopian Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn resigned due to consecutive popular protest against TPLF and its annex, Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). Hailemariam's plan was to end the political crisis through bringing the necessary Political, Economical and Social changes. As the result, the current dynamic and well educated Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed could be his successor after being elected by the Ethiopian Parlama. 

After Abiy Ahmed (PhD) inauguration,April 2018, a dramatic change has been seen in Ethiopia. All political prisoners were released,including Andargachew Tsige who had been hijacked by TPLF from Yemen, policy shifts,freedom of expression, and improving relations with Eritrea were some measures that Abiy took as soon as he started the highest job in the country. However, in all these reforms, TPLF was preparing itself for new fighting against the Federal Government.The Federal Government and a number of civic and religious organizations were also on reputative attempt to cool down the TPLF leaders. These attempts were open to the public even the National Television station was transmitting when elders demanded the former TPLF chairperson, Debretsion. Infact, Debretsion was officially undermining the civic organizations and religious leaders by not giving the necessary attention.

The first week of November,2020 was a black week for Ethiopia. TPLF leaders ordered their militia to attack Ethiopian National Army in over 10 fronts. On the same night Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed ordered the army to protect and confirm law and order in Tigray region in Ethiopia. The two years' preparation of TPLF to attack the Federal army was fully destroyed by the National army within almost three weeks. Almost over 95% of TPLF leadership and army has been bitten and became out of service. That means there is no more TPLF at this time.

President Joe Biden's failed Foreign Policy on Africa 

The suicide of TPLF, which was initiated by its attack Ethiopian National Army, opens a new democratic way to Ethiopia. Infact before TPLF was destroyed, Ethiopia was taking the necessary measures to implement key democratic processes. Election was one of the main plans that the Federal Government runs and postponed to the coming June,2021 due to Covid-19.

The current US Government paradox is here. United State main face is well known by talking a lot about the necessity of democracy and anti-terrorism. These are the two main pillars of the US Government's Foreign policy and strategic relationships. Ethiopia, particularly after the 2018 reforms, could fulfill the two important pillars of the US foreign Policy. Regarding democratic process, the country is preparing the best election in the whole history of Ethiopia. The Independent Election Board is on duty, different opposition political parties are introducing their programs and plans on over 20 Televisions throughout the country and Millions of Ethiopians have already registered and are waiting for the election day which is remaining less than four weeks.

On the other hand, Ethiopia is fighting terrorism both in land and abroad. Ethiopian army is the backbone of African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM). Recently, in this very week of May,2021 Ethiopian army was the sole performer to push Al shabab from four key towns in Somalia. The AMISOM leaders were so proud of the Ethiopian army's recent effective offensive work. Because these key towns were occupied for a long period of time by Al Shabab. Even Though, Ethiopia is performing at higher level to fight terrorism, the current US Government is threatening her to impose sanctions. President Joe Biden’s speech this week was nothing but threatening Ethiopia in the name of humanity in the Tigray region. In the Tigray region, humanitarian crises were there even when TPLF was administering the region. Over 2.5 million people were under the food saftinet program for the last two decades. This was due to the TPLF corruption and mismanagement. Because the role of the Federal Government in Tigray regions administration,particularly for the last three years, was almost nil.

In general, US foreign policy on Africa is in a huge crise. The main actor and formulator, Susan Elizabeth Rice and the team of President Joe Biden are losing their orbit towards Africa. Their policy formulation is hijacked by lobbyists and fake news producers of the Pro-TPLF institutions. These institutions are fueled financially with the looted money from Ethiopian people. It is a matter of time that everything will be exposed. However President Joe Biden and his team’s standing to affect Ethiopian democratic process and fighting against terrorism must not be taken as a simple issue. Because they are spoiling over 125 years of diplomatic and strategic relationships with the ancient land of Africa, that is Ethiopia.
